Inventory Assembly Codes

The Assembly Code field in the Inventory Master File is used to define what type of part an item is in the context of assembly level.  The following codes are supported in this field.

Required

A construction of multiple finished goods either built in-house or purchased.  Assemblies can be exploded to produce finished goods and raw-materials if a BOM is in place.

C

Configuration

Optional

Configured during order entry.  A system BOM may contain all type of items.

F

Finished Good

Optional

Finished good, sold either individually, as part of an assembly, part of a configuration, or as part of a kit.  A finished good will have a bill of materials, if the item is produced in-house, if not no bill of materials is required. A finished goods BOM will only contain Raw or Consumable materials.

K

Kit

Required

An item that consists of multiple finished goods, that is either stocked pre-built or is assembled (gathered) during the pre-shipment picking process.

R

Raw Material

Not allowed

Not normally sold.  Consumed by shop order during the manufacturing process to build either finished goods, assemblies or other raw materials

S

Sub-assembly

Required

May contain Raw Materials and Consumables.  Requires a BOM. This item is not normally saleable
