Data Field Usage

The sequential JE counter or BCNUMBER is stored in field 37 of the Journal entry file.  This field can be displayed in programs that list journal entry information by modifying the appropriate par files.  The “bcnumber” is also displayed in the Journal Entry Detail window that is available from most of the accounting inquiry programs.  The “Bcnumber is optional and is primarily used to produce JE Posting reports that are sorted by the sequential number.
