Manually Placing Accounts on Hold

The first method is to manually change the customer account status to “H” using the Customer Master program.  This will cause any new orders for the customer to be put on an “Account” hold as they are saved.  Existing sales orders for the customer will also be held if they are edited while the customer status is set to “H”.   Note:  Setting the customer status to “H” will not cause holds to be placed on any existing orders for the customer unless the orders are edited.   If there are any open orders for the customer which you want to place on hold, you must manually add a hold to the orders (using the Sales Order Inquiry program) or edit the orders to prevent them from being shipped out.  (Please see the Order Management Documentation for more information about sales orders holds).   To manually place a customer on hold, you should perform the following steps.

1.  Select the Marketing Screen from the Menu

2.  Locate and select the appropriate customer record in the program.

3.  Use the ZOOM key to edit the customer record and change the customer status to “H” (hold status).  This will cause all new sales orders for the customer to be placed on account hold.  Existing orders for the customer will be placed on hold only if they are edited while the customer status field is set to “H”.

4.  Use the Sales Order Inquiry program to add an “A” (account hold) to the existing open orders for the customer.  This will prevent these orders from being shipped until the holds are released from the orders.  Another way to add the “A” hold to the orders would be to edit and save the orders (which will also cause them to be placed on hold if the customer status is set to “H”.
