When a valid Inventory Item is selected in the Inventory Management program and the Open Shop Orders option is selected, the system activates the Item Shop Order Lookup program. The Item Shop Order Lookup program allows you to view the Open Shop Order Headers for the selected Catalog or Inventory Item.
Shop Orders are used to build or assemble the items that you produce inhouse. Each Shop Order consists of a header record, which stores the item number and quantity to be built, and one or more shop order line items – which list the components and component quantities that are required to build the item and quantity specified in the shop order header. The total of all open shoporders and open purchase order lines for an item are stored in the On Order quantity of each Inventory record.
The Item Shop Order Lookup can be used to
• View the shop orders that are included in the On Order Quantity for the selected item.
• Edit the shop order header comment for the selected shop order header. The comment button that is located on the standard toolbar can be used to create, display or edit the shop order comment for the selected shop order.
• View and optionally edit the information that is stored in the shop order header. The zoom option in the Item Shop Order Lookup program allows you to access the Shop Order Header Detail panel, which can be used to edit the selected shop order.
• View and optionally edit other information associated with the shop order. Once a shop order has been selected and the zoom opton is enabled in the Item Shop Order Lookup, the system loads the selected shop order into the Shop Order Header Detail panel. The Shop Order Header Detail panel allows you to view and or edit the Inventory Shop Order and the Bill of Materials Comments for the Inventory Item or Bill of Material associated with the shop order, to view the bill of materials information that is associated with the selected shop order, to view and edit the Catalog record associated with the shop order and to view any sales or shop orders that are associated with the selected shop orders.
