Remove Check Button

The Remove Check Button is used to Remove or to Void an accounts payable check or wire transfer record.  When this option is selected, the system voids or removes the bank record from the bank file and it re-open the invoices paid with the check or wire transfer.

The Void Option is used when the check being processed has been physically voided and it will not be re-issued.  When this option is used, the selected bank record is set to V (void) status, the amount of the bank record is set to 0, and the invoices paid with the selected bank record are reopened and the appropriate entries are made to the general ledger.

The Remove Option is used when the check being processed can be re-used.  When the Remove Option is selected, the system physically removes or deletes the selected record from the Bank File and it reopens the invoices paid with the selected bank record.  Once a bank record has been removed, the check number can be re-issued.

Note:  You may not void or remove a check that has been cleared.  If you need to remove a local currency check that has been cleared, you should first remove the cleared date from the record using the Bank Detail Panel.  If you need to remove a foreign currency check that has been cleared, you must remove the cleared date and make sure the cleared house currency amount of the check is equal to the house currency amount of the check before you may remove it (the two house currency amounts in the bank record will be different if you recognized any additional currency gain or loss when clearing the check).
