The Comment Tab Page in the Order Entry Item Panel allows you to edit and to display the comments that are associated with the order line being created or edited. The Comment Tab page should only be accessed after you have selected the item number for the order line (so the system can automatically load any item related comments for the order line into the panel).
The Comment Tab page is divided into 4 different sections.
Order Line Comment Panel
The Order Line Comment Panel is used to enter, display and edit the Sales Order Line Item Comment for the selected order line. The Sales Order Line Item comment stores text information that applies to the specific sales order line being processed and this information is normally printed on any order confirmations, picklists, or invoice documents that are produced for the order. The comment limit string can be used to suppress printing of this comment on the picklists and invoices for the customer if necessary. If the first character in the comment text is a “-“, the system will output the comment only on the picklist for the order, and it will not be output on external documents such as invoices and packing lists. If the first character in the comment text is a “*” the comment will not be output on internal (picklist) or external documents (packing list, invoice) for the customer.
Pick List Line Comment Panel
The Pick List Comment panel displays any sales order line specific text information that should be printed on the pick list(s) for the order line. The Pick List Comment entered in this section is used to convey any special picking and packaging instructions for the specific order line being processed to your warehouse, and if present, this comment is automatically printed on all pick lists for the order that include the order line.
The text entered in this section is output just prior to the Inventory PickList Comment (if one has been defined for the inventory item being used for the current order).
Note: The Customer Picklist Comment does not use the comment limit string as it is specifically supported to allow printing a note on the picks for the customer.
Inventory Picklist Comment Button
When the Inventory Picklist Comment Button is pressed, the system activates a text display object and it displays the Inventory Picklist Comment (IN 1010) for the inventory item in the selected sales order line (if the comment exists) The Inventory Picklist comment is used to print item specific information on the picklists that include the item.
The Pick List Comment for each item can be created and edited from the Catalog Manager program. The Inventory Picklist comment may not be edited in the Order Entry program and it is automatically printed on all picks for the customer.
The combination of the Inventory Picklist Comment and the Pick List Line Comment allow the system to support both item specific and sales order line specific picklist comments.
Note: The Item Picklist Comment does not use the comment limit string as it is specifically supported to allow printing a note on the picks for the inventory item.
Inventory Invoice Comment Button
When the Inventory Invoice Comment Button is pressed, the system activates a text display object and it displays the Inventory Invoice Comment (IN 1015) for the inventory item in the selected sales order line (if the comment exists). The Inventory Invoice comment is used to print item specific information on the Invoices that include the item.
