Detail Panels

 A panel is a section or group of fields that are contained within an object.  Panels can be called or activated from lookups, management programs, and managers.

Panels contained in views are normally accessed using a tab (an item that looks like the tab on a file folder).  Panels called from lookup programs are normally read-only (the information displayed in the panel cannot be changed) and are used to display detailed information about a document or transaction (invoice, order, order line, etc.).  Some panels also contain tabs that divide the object into several smaller panels.
