There are several different ways to find and select a customer in the POS program.
Selecting the Cash Sales Customer
The following methods can be used to select the Cash Sales Customer
Default - If the system is configured to default to the Cash Sales customer, the Cash Sales customer will be loaded each time the POS program is activated and after each POS transaction is processed.
Cash Sale Button - The Cash Sales button on the Customer / Shipto Tab can be used to select the Cash Sales Customer and load it into the POS program. The system policy POSCASHA is used to identify the account number of the cash sales customer in your company file.
Customer Lookup – The Customer Lookup program can also be used to select the Cash Sales Customer during POS processing.
Selecting a Non Cash Sales Customer
This section describes the several different ways that an existing customer can be selected using the POS program.
Customer Lookup Program
If POS is configured to prompt the operator for the customer for each transaction, the Customer Lookup is automatically displayed when the program is activated and after each pos transaction is processed. The Customer Lookup program can also be activated using the prompt button that is located next to the customer account field on the Customer / Shipto Tab in the POS program
The Customer Lookup program allows you to view and locate existing customers using several different display sequences. The Customer Lookup program also contains a Quick Setup option that can be used to create a new customer when necessary.
Find Customer Button
The Find Button on the Company / Shipto Tab of the POS program allows you to quickly find an existing customer by account number.
When the Find Button is pressed, the system activates an object that allows you to enter the customer account using a touchscreen, the keyboard, or a mouse. Once an account number (only numeric accts are supported), is entered, the system loads the specific customer (if it exists) or it displays a Company Not Found message in the top section of the POS program.
