The Insert Button is used to add records to the system. The insert button is used to insert a new item into a list based data entry program. The Insert Key is used to create a new Customer in the Customer Lookup program, and to add a new line item to an order in the Sales Order Entry Program. The Insert button has the same effect as pressing the Insert key on the keyboard would in most cases. Your ability to insert records in various programs can be restricted based on your security settings, the nature of the program (some lookups are used to display historical or existing data only and do not allow you to add records), and the position of the cursor within a program (the insert key is only available if you are in a list object).
