PO Requisition Creation

The Buyer Assignment logic described in this section is used by the system during PO requisition creation.  The Buyer logic that is used by the system when you are manually creating a purchase order in the PO Entry program is presented in the next section.

The requisitions that are created by the system fall into 3 categories.  These are

Vendor shipment requisitions.  These requisitions are created with the Source field set to V to indicate Vendor shipment.  Vendor Shipment Requisitions are created by and automatically updated by the Sales Order Entry program as required.

Special Order Requisitions.  These requisitions are created with the Source field set to S to indicate Special Order.  Vendor Shipment Requisitions are created by and automatically updated by the Sales Order Entry program as required.

Requisition Lines created by the PO Recommendations report.  The PO Recommendations report is used to create requisitions for stocking items (items to be shipped using the Warehouse Fulfillment method).  These requisitions are created with the source field set to R for Requisition.

Vendor Shipment and Special Order Requisitions are created automatically by the system when vendor shipment and special order sales order lines are created in the Sales Order Entry program.   These requisition lines are tied to specific sales order lines and are therefore also tied to a specific customer (the customer on the sales order).

The Requisition Lines created by the PO Recommendations report are used to replenish your warehouse quantities based on the current quantities of each item (on hand, reserved, on order) in each warehouse and on the reorder information that has been set for each item (reorder point, reorder quantity, minimum reorder quantity).  These requisition lines are not tied to specific customers or sales orders.

The buyer logic used by the system when creating requisition lines depends on whether or not the requisitions are tied to a sales order or not as explained in the next sections.
