Processing the IFT Sales Order

As each IFT purchase order is saved the system creates a type "L" sales order in the location specified in the Code field of the Vendor record used on the PO.  This location will be the location from which the goods will be shipped (the source location) if the IFT PO was created properly.  The system will allocate inventory to the IFT sales order as the order is saved if the inventory is available.  If the inventory is not available at the time the sales order is saved, the system will allocate the items to the order as they become available.  The IFT sales order may be printed once any holds that have been placed on the order have been removed and once inventory has been allocated to the order.  The basic steps to be followed when processing the IFT sales order in the source location are as follows.

Remove any holds which have been placed on the order by the system.  The system may place holds on each IFT sales order as it is created.  Operators may also place holds on IFT orders.  All holds which have been placed on an IFT order must be released before the pick list for the order may be printed.  You may use the Sales Order Hold Management program to release holds from IFT sales orders.  For more information about this program please see the Sales Order Processing documentation.

Print the IFT Picking List.  Once the IFT sales order has been allocated to and it is free of any holds, it may be printed using the On Demand Pick list Processor.  Since all IFT sales orders are saved as type "L" orders by the system, you must change the default order type displayed in the Pick list Processor program to "L" in order to print an IFT pick list.  You may do this by pressing the BACKFIELD key from within the On Demand Pick list Processor and entering an "L" into the Type field displayed by the program.  Once the order type has been changed, you may select and print the pick list by using the SPACEBAR to print the next available type "L" order, by using the "?" key to find and print a specific order, or by entering the first letter of the desired Ship Via code.  Please see the Sales Order Processing documentation for more information about the On Demand Pick list Processor.

Invoice the order and physically transfer the goods.  Once the IFT pick list has been printed, the goods to be transferred should be picked and the order should be invoiced using the Invoicing/Order Completion program.  If the goods are being shipped by one of the shipping methods automatically supported by the system the Order Completion program will display the appropriate shipping modal so that you can enter the information required for the shipping manifest.  The system will also produce any required shipping labels for the shipment.  If the transfer is being shipped by company truck or another method not supported by the system then you may still print shipping labels for the shipment but the shipping modal will not be displayed.  Note: You may not charge shipping or sales tax on an IFT invoice as the system saves IFT invoices as type "OS" invoices and type "OS" invoices are not posted by the sales posting programs.  If the items being transferred are serialized inventory items and they were serialized when received into the source location, the invoicing program will prompt you to enter the serial numbers of the items being transferred.  As the invoice for an IFT sales order is saved, the system deducts the items being transferred from inventory, closes out the IFT sales order and creates records in the Pending file to track the merchandise while it is in transit to the destination location.
