Shipping Hold Checkbox

The Shipping or Shipvia Hold option allows you to place a Shipvia or “S” hold on the sales order that you are resetting a picklist for.

The Shipvia hold is normally used for undefined shipping methods such as “Best Way”.  If the Autohold field in the Bestway Shipvia is set to Y, the system places an S hold on any orders saved with that shipping method.  The shipment hold is used to prevent shipment of the order until someone in the sales, traffic, or freight department determines the proper shipment method for the order and assigns the shipping method to the order.  Once a shipping method that does not have the Autohold field set to Y is selected for the order, the S hold is automatically cleared by the system as the order is saved.

The Shipping Hold option in the Reset Printed Picklist program is used to handle picks that are printed with an invalid shipping method (i.e. the S hold was released, but the operator did not actually update the shipping method).

By placing a shipment or “S” hold on the sales order, you can prevent a picklist from being generated for the sales order until the operator who needs to make a change has had a chance to make any required edits and to release the hold.  The Picklist Management program will not display any orders that have any holds on them, so the shipment hold allows you to block shipment of the order.

If a picklist is reset and a hold is not placed on the order, the order will normally still be shown in the Picklist Management program as it will still be ready to ship (meaning it can also be re-printed).

If the Shipment Hold Checkbox is selected (a check is displayed in the program) when you press the Reset Button, the system will place a type “S” hold on the sales order being processed.

This option should normally only be used when you have implemented Shipvia holds, as the system will automatically clear an S hold when an order is saved and the Shipvia being used does not have the Autohold field set to Y.  This option should also only be used when resetting picks for orders which have a Shipvia that has the Autohold field set to Y (for the same reason).  If the order does not have a Shipvia that should be put on hold, you should use only the W hold option.
