The MyGroup Menu Option is a group specific menu. The MyGroup Menu Option allows you to create a menu that is specific to a group of operators. The menu options are assigned using a specific group code (such as C) and the menu options are available to each operator who has the group code entered as the first group in their operator record. The ability of each operator to add to or to clear the MyGroup Menu can be controlled using a system parameter.
The MyGroup menu option can be used to provide an easy way for a group of operators to store commonly used programs, and it can also be used when restricting users to a specific set of programs.
For example: A user or group of users can be blocked from accessing the main or System Specific Menus using a system parameter. A static group menu can then be defined for the operators (with all programs they have access to). The operators may then select programs from the MyGroup Menu and add or remove them from their own MyCove Menus. In this case, the operators would have access to anything on the MyGroup menu, but would normally be blocked from adding or deleting items from the Group Menu.
The following options are displayed in the MyGroup Menu when it is selected.
• MyGroup Programs: The top section of the MyGroup Menu lists the programs or applications that have been added to the MyGroup Menu for the current operator.
• Add current View to MyGroup - Allows you to add the current active view (program) to your MyGroup Menu. You must have a program open and selected in order to use this option, and the program must be a program that can be called directly from the menu (some programs like views are processing or lookup programs that can be called from a menu, while other programs like dialogs must be called from inside another program). When you have a valid program open and select this option, the program is added to your MyGroup Menu. Note: Your ability to use this option can be restricted using a system parameter or policy.
• Remove Current View from MyGroup – Allows you to clear the currently selected menu option from your MyGroup Menu. When you have a valid program open and select this option, the program is removed from your MyGroup Menu. Note: Your ability to use this option can be restricted using a system parameter or policy.
